The field of medicine known as ophthalmology is devoted to the investigation and treatment of conditions affecting the eyes. It includes the identification, treatment, and avoidance of ailments that influence vision and the general wellbeing of the eyes. Ophthalmologists are specialised medical professionals that go through significant training in order to offer complete eye treatment.
Refractive errors including myopia, hyperopia, and astigmatism as well as age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and retinal detachments are just a few of the many disorders that fall under the umbrella of ophthalmology. To diagnose and manage these diseases, ophthalmologists employ a variety of methods and devices, including optical coherence tomography, tonometry, fundoscopy, visual acuity testing, and slit-lamp examination.
Depending on the ailment, ophthalmology treatment options may include prescription eyeglasses or contact lenses, drugs, laser therapy, and surgery. Ophthalmologists frequently conduct glaucoma filtration surgery, corneal transplantation, cataract extraction and intraocular lens implantation, retinal detachment repair, and corneal transplantation
For maintaining excellent ocular health and seeing any possible problems early on, regular eye exams are essential. Ophthalmologists are also essential in giving information and advice on eye care, such as contact lens use, eye cleanliness, and the effects of lifestyle decisions on eye health.

Cirrus OCT (Zeiss) is a new, noninvasive, noncontact, imaging technology which can produce very high-resolution cross-sectional images of the retina. This technology can be used to help diagnose and thus treat a variety of retinal disorders including diabetic retinopathy, Age related macular degeneration (ARMD), Cystoid macular edema macular holes, Epiretinal membranes, central serous choriodopathy and optic disc pits. It also gives high resolution imaging of the optic nerve for early glaucoma detection. The new model of the machine we have also has an anterior segment module for imaging of cornea & anterior segment.
Fluroscein angiography is an important diagnostic tool to study the retinal vasculature. This involves an injection of fluroscein dye intravenously and then taking serial retinal photographs. This helps in diagnosing diseases of retina and choroid and also in evaluating the effect of treatment (medical or laser). The most common indications are diabetic retinopathy, ARMD and vascular occlusions of the retina.
For treatment of narrow angle glaucomas, after cataract (PCO)
For various retinal conditions including diabetic retinopathy, vascular occlusions, myopic retinal degenerations, ROP among others
This is the most important and advanced equipment useful in the diagnosis of glaucoma and certain neurological disorders. This is fully loaded machine along with software's to assess the progression of glaucoma. We get to know the field of vision of the patient.
This is useful to calculate the present glass power more accurately and instantly.
