Nurse leaders are required to contribute to overall organizational decision making. This course aims to target the Nurse Managers poised to take over as Nurse Leaders and to give them an insight into the aspects of modern management. The sessions are to be delivered by experts in the field from industry at large and also Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital.

The Nursing Management Course is a 48 hours certificate course to be taken over a period of 4 months. Periodical assessments are a part of the course. The registrants should complete all the internal assessments. The final examination will be held after completion of the course and internal assessments. Certification will be by K C College of Management studies

Journey

The Nursing Management course since its inception in the year 2011 has provided a platform for Senior Nurses from hospitals across Mumbai to enrolling in the Nursing Management Certificate Course conducted by the Nursing Department in affiliation with the K C College of Management Studies. Experts from the field of Management impart lectures to our participants. This is a one of a kind course started by any hospital in Mumbai. Experts from the Tata Institute of Social science imparted lectures on Motivation and teambuilding. Sessions are interactive and indulge the participants into the application of management principles into their work routines. In the year 2019 12 Nurses from various hospital attended this course and certified them as Nurse Managers.

Soft Skill Training

There is a pressing need for Nurses to get sensitized to soft skills for human interaction. This entails better listening skills, interpersonal skills, and communication skills. While being excellent at their technical skills (i.e. medical profession skills) there is a gap in their soft skills. The hospital has regular training sessions on soft skills, called as impression management. The outcome is smarter, sharper and more effective nurses. It has helped in better interpersonal skills, communication, confidence and attitude building, teambuilding and motivation.

 

Professional Training

Critical Care Training Program for the Nurses

It is a six weeks training program which is designed for nurses with diploma or degree in Nursing with a minimum of 1 year professional experience The purpose of this course is to develop skills in observation of patients, interpretation of findings, critical thinking and the ability to act independently in taking care of patients. This course focuses on both patient care and technical aspect of intensive care. On the successful completion of this program, Nurses are able to assume responsibility to function as an Intensive Care Unit team member and gain the ability of Critical thinking and act independently in taking care of patients.

Intravenous Access Therapy training with Becton Dickinson (BD)

Nurses are involved wherever infusion therapy is delivered and they have to develop the skill and expertise in delivering high quality care. Training the nurses in Intra Venous (I.V) therapy benefits the patients by lowering the number of venipunctures and fewer infusion related complications. The nurses of Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital, in collaboration with Becton Dickinson India Pvt. Ltd underwent a 10 day intensive training program for I.V therapy. This was first of its kind in the whole of India. The training program enhanced the competence of Nurses in securing peripheral venous access. They are sensitized to all related them to the possible complications that can occur. The trained teams now act as “trainers” and impart training to other nurses. Nurses at the hospital have benefitted enormously by the training that is imparted. The nurses are confident and this manifests in their patient interaction.

ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) Training Programme

In-house training on ACLS & BLS is given to all Critical care Nurses, Doctors and Accident and Emergency Nurses and Doctors by ACLS certified Instructors from the hospital every three months. In-house training on PALS Training (Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life support) conducted for the pediatric doctors, Nurses and pediatric physiotherapist in the year 2022.

In-House Training

In-house Training for Executive Nurses on various topics. Last topic was on 28th July 2022 –Importance of handing and Taking over. Post test is given at the end of the session . CNE( Continuous Nursing Education)Training given to staff nurses once every week based on a schedule which involves various topics and trainers. A post test and feedback is given at the end of the training. Those Nurses scoring less than 70% are given retraining and retest . Induction Program – Newly Inducted Nurses are given 3 weeks training on policies and protocols of the hospital. Hands on training are given regarding Nursing procedures, BLS and Biomedical equipments.A post test and feedback is given at the end of the training. Those Nurses scoring less than 70% are given retraining and retest. On job training is given to all nurses to polish their clinical skills and to develop.
