Biosketch :

  • Dr Sarkar has worked and trained in many reputed Premier Eye care Institutes and Multispeciality Hospitals across India like the prestigious Sankara Nethralaya (Chennai); LUPEI (Hyderabad), Retina Foundation (Ahmedabad), Bombay Hospital (Mumbai), Hinduja Healthcare (Mumbai), Seven Hills Hospital (Mumbai), Holy Family Hospital (Mumbai) before joining Apollo Hospitals (Navi Mumbai).

 

  • Dr Sarkar is also experienced in the diagnosis and management of variety of retinal diseases seen in babies such as Retinopathy of prematurity,Coats Disease as well as paediatric Eye Cancers. Dr Sarkar has also been a part of the "National Orientation Module for Rehabilitation of the Visually Impaired" organized by National Institute for the Visually Handicapped ( NIVH) in collaboration with Vision Rehabilitation Centre, L.V. Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad.

 

  • Besides his clinical interests Dr Sarkar is also actively involved in various clinical research activities and has been part of numerous clinical research programmes.

 

  • He is also the proud recipient of the "Best Paper Award" at 140th Research Meeting of MRC Bombay.

 

  • Expertise:

 He has vast experience in various Ophthalmic Medical and Surgical interventions for the management of Retinal Detachments, Diabetic Retinopathy, Ocular Inflammatory and Autoimmune disorders (Uveitis), Trauma with retained IOFB, Macular holes, Macular oedema and its related diagnostic and therapeutic procedures like Ultrasonography, UBM, Fundus Fluorescein Angiography as well as Intra-ocular Injection of Anti-VEGF for the management of Diabetic Macular Oedema.Besides routine Scleral Buckling & Vitreo-retinal procedures he is also experienced in the management of Complex Surgeries like:
 Scleral-fixated Intraocular lenses for the management of Dropped IOL's [Intra-Ocular Lenses] using Lasso technique [No need for new IOLI
Complex Diabetic Retinopathy with Combined RD
Macular Hole Surgery
