Dr  Praveen Kammar completed his MCh Course in Surgical Oncology from Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai. He later got his fellowship in GI–Colorectal Surgery (Ethicon sponsored) also from Tata Memorial Centre. He received further training in Peritoneal Malignancies, GI-Colorectal Surgery. He also holds a fellowship in Colorectal Surgery from Yopnsei Cancer Centre, Seoul, South Korea.

He also has a keen interest in scientific research pertaining to Peritoneal Malignancy and Colorectal Cancer. He has several publications to his name in these areas. Along with Dr. Sanket Mehta, he worked to set up the database for the Asian Peritoneal Surface Malignancy Group in India. He is a key member of all research activities carried out by the Society of Peritoneal Surface Oncology of India.
