Dr Nilesh Doctor is working as a Consultant Gastrointestinal Surgeon with Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital. After completing training in General Surgery, he trained in London at the prestigious Royal Free Hospital, gaining expertise in Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery. A further GI training was obtained in Colorectal Surgery. Laparoscopic surgery had just been introduced & he was fortunate to gain experience & expertise in this field right from 1992. After a brief stint at the MAYO CLINIC, he returned to India & started in 1998 as consultant in Jaslok, where he established the Department of Surgical Gastroenterology. He performed the First LIVE Donor LIVER TRANSPLANT in India. He runs 2 training programmes at Jaslok in DNB (GI Surgery) and at Bhatia (GI & Laparoscopic Surgery). Over the years his field of expertise involves complex Liver, Pancreas & Biliary Surgery, Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery and GI Onco surgery.
He has published articles on a range of subjects such as Acute Cholecystitis, Acute pancreatitis, Liver Resection, Bile duct injury, Obstructive jaundice, Management of Insulinoma, Chronic pancreatitis, Distal Pancreatectomy. His presentations include Management of pancreatitis; Scope of HPB Surgery, Distal pancreatectomy, Management of Bile duct injury. His areas of interest are Basic & Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery, Re-operative Abdominal Surgery, Liver Surgery, Pancreatic Surgery, Biliary Surgery, Gastrointestinal Onco-Surgery.
