NURCON 2015 – A cultural shift moving towards new horizons

Dr LH Hiranandani Hospital had organized a Nursing Conclave (NURCON 2015) in Mumbai on October 17th &18th at the Trident Hotel, Bandra Kurla Complex.

The aim is to highlight the role play of nurses in healthcare. We do understand that the ‘Care’ in healthcare falls into the domain of the Nurses. This will be highlighted through the theme of this conference “A cultural shift – moving towards new horizons”. The topics have been thought through intelligently, to bring out the essence of what and how the present and future of Nursing should be.

The Conclave was a success due to the strong participation nursing delegates and Leaders from hospitals and educational institutions across India. The Conclave was inaugurated by Director of DMER Dr Pravin Shingare. There were eminent speakers spanning from the field of nursing service and nursing education, who talked on topics "Nurse in the Healthcare Team", "Transformational Leadership”, “and Nursing Environment Today". "Verticalization versus Autonomy", the panel discussion topic brought out the importance nurses foraying into specialization and to gain autonomy through knowledge enhancement. The purpose of the conclave, to bring a change in the nursing paradigm through nursing governance and also to understand the national perspective of enhancing Work environment and Work culture was brought forth with this conclave.

An International perspective was shared on the topic of “Nursing Governance”, by Dr Gilly Smith from University of Perth, Australia.

The Message was to join forces. Nursing Leaders from the private and publicly run hospital and educational institutions to come together for the betterment and up gradation of the Nursing Profession.

 

 

Nursing Conclave

Nurses from Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Healthcare Sub-Committee, Western Region conducted the first national Conclave on Nursing on 05th March, 2010 in Mumbai. The Chief Guest was Vice Admiral Richard Carmona, the 17th Surgeon of the United States, who is a Nurse! The other luminaries who attended were – Mr. T Dileep Kumar, Nursing Advisor to the Government of India, Prof Dr. James Thomas, Vice Chancellor and Professor of Cardiovascular thoracic surgery, Dr D Y Patil University, Mr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Chief Managing Trustee of Dr L H Hiranandani Hospital.

The conclave being the first of its kind was well attended by over 150 Nurses. They represented the Nursing Leadership of this country. There was an equal representation from the private and public sector. Nursing issues were discussed and enthusiastically debated. The conclave was successful in addressing the first steps towards changing the Nursing thought process in this country.
