Our Success Rates
The commonest question patients ask us : What is your pregnancy
rate ? Though this seems like a simple question , which should be
easy to answer, it's actually a very difficult question to answer
honestly and completely. The reason for this is that the pregnancy
rate in any IVF Center will depend upon a number of factors - and
one of the most important variables is the patient. What is the
wife's age ? Was there a male factor? How many oocytes did we get?
What was the quality of oocytes? How many embryos were transferred
? In general, the pregnancy rate in an IVF cycle depends upon: how
many embryos are transferred; the quality of embryos; the quality
of the embryos; the endometrial thickness on TVS; and the ease of
the embryo transfer. The pregnancy rate is related directly to how
many embryos are transferred. In our clinic, our clinical
pregnancy rate for women who are less than 37 years old, for whom
we transfer 4 or more embryos embryos is approximately 28% . The "
take-home baby rate " per treatment cycle is approximately 27%.
This rate is comparable to the European & American Regulatory
Standards, and one of the reasons it is so good is that we can
transfer as many embryos as the patient desires - and the more the
embryos transferred, the greater the pregnancy rate. With this
approach the risk of a multiple pregnancy is higher (our rate of
twins is 20%; and triplets is 8%). Each patient needs to decide
how many embryos to transfer for themselves and we always suggest
that the couple decide independently after counseling for
multifetal reduction. Multifetal reduction for triplets & above is
offered at our Center and carries a first trimester miscarriage
rate of 2%.
