The sagging or wrinkles over the upper eyelid and/ or the lower
eyelid can be corrected by tightening the skin and removing the
excess fat muscle and skin. This can be combined with a face lift.
The upper eyelid incision is made in the fold of the lid and the
lower lid incision is made along the lid margin. The scars are
usually good and become very light in 6 months to 1 year. The
procedure is done under local anesthesia and the patient can go
home the same day.

This is done to increase the size of the breast or to restore the
shape of the breast after pregnancy. Breast lifting surgery when
combined with a small breast implant, is more effective and long
lasting. A proper size implant depending on the chest and height
of the patient is calculated. Implants are imported. Only CE mark
implants are used. The surgeon must be associated with the
International Breast Implant Registry, which, documents all the
implants and their results. Patient must get a card with the code
no, size and make of the implant used.
The implant can be done under local or general anesthesia.
Incision is placed in the lower lateral part of the breast fold,
to keep it hidden. Or it can be taken at the border of the dark
areola circle.
Recently the quality of the implants has been greatly improved to
ensure safety to the patients. The implants are made with a double
envelope. The surface of the implant is textured instead of being
smooth. Older implants were filled with a fluid which, had chances
of leak. The newer implants contain a cohesive gel that does not
leak. Patients can select between high profile and low profile
implants.
Special implants with a skirting to stitch them in place can also
be ordered. Breast implant patient can be discharged on the same
day. Stitches are removed after 10 days. Good breast support, like
a sports bra should be used for the next few months. Active sex
should be avoided for 21 days. Bending down, lifting of heavy
weights, raising the arms over the head, workout in the gym should
be avoided for 15 days. Light exercise, walking, yoga can be
done after 4 days.
Various studies in USA & UK have shown that you can breast feed a
baby after a silicon breast implant and there is no cause and
effect relationship between breast implants and cancer of the
breast. Patients with history of cancer in the family are advised
a mammography before the surgery and follow up every year.

Large breasts cause embarrassment, pain in the upper back and pain
in the neck due to the weight. Patients get skin rashes and fungal
infection under the folds and have a bad posture. Large breasts
can be reduced in size by removing the excess skin and breast
tissue along with upward repositioning of the nipple and areola.
The operation is difficult to perform and after the wound healing
there is always a chance of slight variation in the size of the
right and the left breasts.
There is a scar around the nipple areola, a vertical scar
downwards upto the breast fold and a T shaped extension of this
scar along the lower breast fold. For a patient who is troubled by
the large size the results are satisfactory. The reduction surgery
achieves some lifting as well. The scars gradually fade over the
next 1 2 years to remain only as thin 2 mm lines.
Breast reduction is done under general anesthesia. Patient is
hospitalized for 2-days. Suture removal is done after 10-days and
two more follow-ups may be required over the next 2-weeks. Good
breast support should be used for the next few months. Bending
down, lifting of heavy weights, raising the arms over the head,
workout in the gym should be avoided for 4 weeks. Light exercise,
walking, yoga can be done after 15 days.

A small, retarded chin gives a poor facial profile and makes you
look like a person with low confidence. Retruded chin can be
corrected with a silicon chin implant, which will form a new chin.
The operation is done from inside the mouth so that the scar
cannot be seen. The implant has to be imported according to the
calculated size. Some of the patients having a short lower jaw
with improper dental bite need a more extensive lower jaw

8-10 days.

Face Lift
Face lift is done to remove the wrinkled, sagging skin from the
face and give a tight youthful look. The incision is around the
lower half of the ear and is carried behind the ear into the
hairline. Skin of the face below the level of the cheekbones upto
the jaw line and over the neck is dissected and pulled up. Excess
skin is removed. The subcutaneous fascia layer is also tightened.
Patient can be sent home the next day morning. Stitches are
removed after 8 days. There may be a swelling for 10 15 days
with bruising and blue discoloration of the skin. Patient is asked
to have a soft diet and take rest for 2 weeks.

Fat Injection
Small amounts of fat can be suctioned by a syringe and injected
for filling up wrinkles on the face, forehead etc. This is done
after centrifuging the fat to remove the excess blood and broken
cells, so that there is less bruising and loss of volume after the
correction. Large amounts of fat injected in this manner cannot
survive. It may flow down to take a dependent position. It remains
in the body as human oil or human wax and becomes hard with
fibrosis. The area gives a hard and unnatural feel. This method
should not be used for increasing the size of the breast. As a,
wrinkle filler the fat remains for 1 to 1½ years, when it can be
repeated.

Liposuction
Liposuction is removal of fat from the body. It can be planned for
two different reasons. One is to loose weight and the other is to
improve the shape of the body called as body contouring or
liposculpture. Repeated attempts at diet and exercise may not
succeed in loosing the deep fat or stubborn fat from the waist,
thighs and hips. One has to loose 8-10 ounces from the face to
loose one ounce from the hips. Liposuction helps to change the
shape of these areas and give a long lasting, permanent new look
to the body. This helps the patient to boost self-confidence and
motivates the patient to maintain a slim figure. The procedure
should be planed within safe limits. There is a special formula
based on the patients height and weight, which helps the surgeon
to plan the safe limit of suction.
How liposuction works? Does the weight come back?
The number of fat cells in the body are fixed. Liposuction
removes these cells permanently from the area, so that no further
fat can be stored in the same place. Therefore the person cannot
become fat again in the same area, where liposuction has been
done. Once these persons loose inches on their body they feel
motivated to follow diet, exercise and maintain the result. Once
they are fitting into jeans that are two sizes smaller they do not
want to go back to their old size. Liposuction is done through
1.5cm skin cuts, under spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia,
using 4 6mm cannulas and a suction machine that generates 1
atmosphere pressure, causing fat to boil at room temperature. The
latest technique is wet liposuction or tumescent technique.
Herein, special hypotonic solution is injected into the area to
help in breaking the fat cells and the liquefied fat is then
sucked out, reducing the blood loss and helping in early recovery.
Post operative recovery from Liposuction
After liposuction, swelling could remain for 4 8 weeks. Pain
is comparable to soreness after having a long walk. There is
bruising and blue discoloration of the area for 15 days.
Pressure garments have to be worn for 4 6 months. These will
allow the skin to shrink and take the new shape.
Lipectomy
In this procedure the excess fat as well as the fold of excess
skin is removed. It is commonly required after pregnancies. It can
also be done after the first baby. It does not interfere with
subsequent pregnancies, but the skin will stretch again in the
next pregnancy. Lipectomy can also be done for bulky thighs, arms
etc.
After lipectomy of the abdomen, the patient gets a long scar along
the bikini line, which can be hidden under the regular garments.
The naval may be reshaped & repositioned as per the choice of the
patient. Tightening of the abdominal muscles too can be done
during a lipectomy. Combined liposuction of the hips and thighs
along with lipectomy of the abdomen can be planed for severely
obese patients.
Lipectomy is done under spinal anesthesia or general anesthesia.
Bed rest is required for 2 days and rest at home for 5 8 days.
Patient is not allowed to bend down and lift heavy weights for 3
4 weeks. Patient has to use pressure garments and abdominal
support for 4 6 mths.

Thick & Thin Lips
Thick lips can be reduced by removing the tissue from the inner
side of the lips from one corner to the other corner. Both lips
can be reduced at the same time. The surgery can be done under
local anesthesia and does not require hospital stay. This
procedure too can be combined with other facial surgeries or a
face lift.
Thin Lips : Thin lips can be made thick with fat injection or
using an artificial wrinkle filler injection. The result usually
stays for 1-1½ years and may have to be repeated. This injection
is done under local anesthesia. There is no need of
hospitalization. Lip swelling remains for 3-4 days and will then
subside to reveal the new shape
